New Look, Same Site

Feb 17 2007 Published by Ted under blogging, friends

Tom finally talked me into moving my site over to wordpress.com’s servers. So, here it is, new and not really improved. I’ve got a new theme and figured out a half-assed way keep the same header picture as the old site.

Anyway, thanks to Tom for making all of the changes while I was out of town and not giving me some Hello Kitty-like theme.

Lightning strikes twice!

bloggingbaby.com is a really cool website about raising kids and I hit their site every once in a while. They also have a Flickr group that I post pictures of CJ to occasionally. Well sir, they’ve (for the second time) chosen one of my pictures for their picture of the day. I didn’t blog about it the first time, you know, because modesty is my middle name, but thought I’d share this time.

See, it’s not just me who thinks that CJ is adorable!

Also, Tom’s son Lane has also been featured as one of their pictures of the day, and I’m very excited to have been able to one-up him again! ;)

So, it’s been a while, huh?

I’ve been swamped with the whole “getting back to work after vacation” think and haven’t had any time to update this thing since I got back.

I’ll be writing up some posts about my trips to Mt. Shasta and Seattle for Bumbershoot later, I just wanted to type something here so I had a post from within the last few weeks.

Using Google Analytics

Aug 18 2006 Published by Ted under blogging, computers

Baaaaa!

OK, now that I’ve got that out of the way… I’ve been using Google Analytics for a couple of days now and am, so far, very happy with what I’m getting for the low, low price of free. Tom turned me on to a cool little plugin for my WordPress blog called Google Analyticator which requires that you just type in your Google Analytics user ID into a field and it does the rest automagically. Very slick and painless, just the way I like it.

If you’re interested in setting up Google Analytics (formerly known as Urchin Reports) all you need is a Google account (GMail or whatever) to get signed up and started with getting stats for your site. Don’t have a GMail account? Leave a comment requesting one and I’ll shoot you an invite, just leave your email address in the comment field.

So, do you like the new look?

I’ve updated the theme for the site to K2 (just like Tom already did; I am a sheep) with a Blue-K2 scheme. I’m going to be tweaking a bit of the CSS stuff to make it more to my likings, but that’s another job for another day.

What do you think? Do you like this look or do you think that I should go back to the older version? Personally, even without the planned tweaks, I really like this look and the slider on the top of the page is pretty kick-ass!

Testing Windows Live Writer (Beta)

Aug 15 2006 Published by Ted under blogging

I’m nothing if not a sheep…

I downloaded the beta version here to see how I like it. I’m also interested in trying out BlogJet, which Tom swears by.

**EDIT**

I hit the upload button and it spat out an error at me but the post was submitted. Ah well, they don’t call it “beta” for nothing…

Another new server, same site…

Aug 11 2006 Published by Ted under blogging, friends, geek

Thanks to Tom, this site is now living on a Linux-based server, where WordPress is happiest. We’ve made a few little modifications, nothing glaringly obvious, but modifications nonetheless.

Thanks again Tom!

Thanks Lance!

Monday night (after bowling) Tom, Lance and I met up at the office here in Livermore and had a “geek out” session. Lance was kind enough to finish up the new look of the blog and I think it looks GREAT!

Thanks Lance!

Slight Technical Difficulties

May 28 2006 Published by Ted under blogging

Looks like my site (and Lance’s) was down for a few hours or so today due to a MySQL error on the server hosting them. Stupid Lanlogic, bunch of no-talent hacks! ;)

All’s well now though folks, now back to our regularly scheduled programming…
