Just got the following email in my Gmail Inbox:

Dear valued PayPal member:

Identity protection matters. And PayPal works day and night to help keep your identity safe. That’s why it has come to our attention that your PayPal account information needs to be updated as part of our continuing commitment to protect your account and to reduce the instance of fraud on our website. If you could take 5-10 minutes out of your online experience and update your personal records you will not run into any future problems with the online service.

However, failure to update your records will result in account suspension.

Once you have updated your account records, your PayPal session will not be interrupted and will continue as normal.

To login to your PayPal account and update your records click on the following link:

Thank You for using PayPal!

The PayPal Team

OK, there’s a few things wrong here but the most blatant is the fact that they didn’t even bother spoofing the URL of paypal.com, they just went ahead and put up the IP address of a server in the Czech Republic (thanks dnsstuff.com!)

Is this just an example of spammers/spoofers/phishers/whateverthefuckthey’recallingthemselvesnow not caring or just ineptitude? I’m betting on ineptitude myself.

Fun and Games with Windows Live Writer

May 31 2007 Published by Ted under blogging, technology

It’s been a while since I’ve posted and I apologize for that.  Really.  this is a post using Windows Live Writer per Tom’s recommendation.

I don’t really have much else to say at the moment, life’s been pretty much status quo, but I’ll have some exciting stuff coming up, including a white water rafting trip in a week or so that I’ll try to talk about.

Actually, I was available… We thought it would be a good idea to start video blogging some work-related stuff in the office and Gene and I shot the video linked below to welcome our customers to our service and give them an overview of what we can offer.

Nerd Alert! Nerd Alert!

Well, it’s been 30 years since Star Wars: A New Hope was released in theaters and created a generation of geeks, myself included. According to TheForce.net the US Postal Service is working with Lucas Arts to commenorate the event with the geekiest mailboxes this side of Tatooine and I couldn’t be happier! Check it out below!

**FLUSH**

You hear that? That’s the sound of 10 of my hard (ly)-earned dollars being flushed into the toilet that is known as the “Powerball Lottery.”

The best response of the day? Gene saying, “No thanks, I was a statistics major in college.”

I'll be looking over my shoulder for weeks now…

Mar 01 2007 Published by Ted under blogging, friends, work

So I played a little trick on Tom tonight at bowling. Nothing huge, just enough to irk him and make him shake his fist at me.

Now, however, I’m worried. See, Tom has access/control over every PC in the office and can cause some VERY SERIOUS things with my computer and network access. Not to mention, of course, my access to the building and phone. We were joking about what he could do and I jokingly said something about making my corporate login password 64-characters in length with no letters or numbers allowed, only “special characters” (ex. #+~^%#$]?). This caused his eyebrow to raise in thought.

Damn…
